2024 Aterra - Puglia IGT

$42.00

Producer | Aterra

Region | Puglia

Variety | Primitivo

Alcohol | 13.5%

Sourced from two complementary parcels — pale sand for lift and freshness, red clay rich in iron for structure and aromatic depth. Fermentation starts cool to preserve fruit purity and ensure gentle extraction, followed by full malolactic and five to six months in stainless steel, then a short rest in bottle.

Ripe cherry, plum and black pepper meet soft balsamic and earthy tones. Smooth and mouth-filling, with velvety tannins, balanced acidity and just a hint of natural sweetness from perfectly ripe fruit.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Aterra is a small, family-run project born from the shared vision of Andrea, a lawyer from Bari living in London, and Marta, an oenologist from Margherita di Savoia. United by a love for Puglia’s native grapes and traditional farming, they set out to craft wines that speak of place rather than production. Their vineyards lie across three distinct terroirs — Sannicandro di Bari’s red soils, Orta Nova’s pale clays, and the rocky slopes of Ruvo di Puglia — all farmed organically with deep respect for the land. In the cellar, they work simply and gently, fermenting at controlled temperatures and ageing mostly in stainless steel to preserve the purity of fruit.

Every choice, from composting and light bottles to carbon-neutral transport, reflects a quiet commitment to sustainability and authenticity — wines that are honest, rooted, and unmistakably Puglian.
