Vino Mito is a wine import and wholesale distribution business based in Sydney established in 2019 by Mattia Dicati. Its focus is to best represent small scale Italian winegrowers, who works respecting nature and biodiversity, passionate about their region, growing mostly local indigenous varieties.

Those make handcrafted living wine, using traditional winemaking processes, with low intervention in the cellar. The wines are great expression of place where are from and a solid link with old traditions and new flavours. Our goal is to transmit the same passion, commitment and believe to our costumers, promoting wellbeing in individual and community.

Mattia grew up in Piedmont, Italy, where he got his start in hospitality working at Duna degli Orsi, a lively beach bar and restaurant on the Riviera Romagnola. After finishing school, he and his family took over a restaurant, with his mom running the kitchen. This was when Mattia really started diving into wine, earning his sommelier certification through AIS (Italian Sommelier Association) and spending a lot of time at wine fairs and visiting wineries.

After more than six years in the family restaurant, Mattia decided to shake things up by moving to London to study English and complete the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) sommelier course. While studying, he worked at Zucca, a fine dining Italian spot, and at Terroirs Wine Bar and Restaurant, a go-to place for natural wines in the UK.

In 2013, Mattia headed to Australia and joined 10 William St in Sydney, a well-known natural wine bar. He also spent a harvest season working with winemaker Tom Shobbrook in the Barossa Valley. Eventually, he stepped up to a manager role at 10 William St before launching Vino Mito Wine Imports, in 2019.

In 2021, Mattia teamed up with Giorgio De Maria (Giorgio De Maria Fun Wines) and Enrico Tomelleri (Ragazzi, Pellegrino 2000, 10 William, Casa) to open Paski Vineria Popolare in Darlinghurst.

These days, he’s mostly found at Paski or out on the road, sharing his passion for great wine.
