Montecorneo 570
Sant'Andrea d’Agliano (PR) - UMBRIA
Montecorneo 570 is a small family-run business located in Sant’Andrea d’Agliano, in the province of Perugia. The area was marked, in the Gregorian land registry, found in the state archives, under the name of Montecorneo. 570, on the other hand, is the house number attributable to the family of Maria Cristina Ceccucci and Fausto Gallina, who run the company together with their children Sara and Federico.
Sara, after studying oenology and doing experiences abroad moves back home in 2017, where her passion for wine was passed down from her family, who had been involved in viticulture for generations. The vineyard was purchased in the 1970s by the Gallina family. Then it fell into disuse, it was recovered at the beginning of 2000, and then managed to shine as an all-round hospitality activity in 2010.
The philosophy of Montecorneo 570 revolves around concepts such as hospitality, tradition, conviviality and sharing. For this reason, each bottle is also a direct experience, an opportunity to get to know a territory and let yourself be conquered by its inhabitants.
The farm also produces vinegar and oil, and in the vineyard the dictates of organic farming are followed, in close contact with nature, where the must becomes, as they like to say, "the mirror of the soil". The winery focuses on native grape varieties such as Montepulciano, Grechetto, and Merlot grown on soil composed of limestone, sand and clay, the harvest takes place manually, and in the cellar the must ferments spontaneously, with only indigenous yeasts.
