Valli Unite
Costa Vescovato (AL) - PIEDMONT
Valli Unite, was established in 1981 as a certified organic cooperative in Costa Vescovato, in the south-eastern corner of the Piedmont region. It emerged from the determination of three young farmers to stay on the land. They were joined by others from a variety of personal and professional backgrounds looking to forge a new lifestyle in which income was not the main driver.
Today Valli Unite – united valleys – is a cooperative of some 35 individuals working 100 hectares of land. Some 25 hectares are dedicated to vines, with the rest being a combination of pasture, forage land, cereal crops, vegetable gardens and woods.
In 2007 Alessandro Poretti arrived at the cooperative. An ambitious winemaker with excellent ideas, he was determined to produce wine in the most natural and authentic way possible. Under his influence new techniques were adopted, including spontaneous fermentation, little filtration and low use of sulphur.
The wines of Valli Unite are fresh, honest expressions of the honourable toil of the cooperative’s members.
